About Me

Firstly, welcome to my site and thank you for taking the time to have a look!

My name is Andrea Davis, I qualified as a Person Centred Counsellor in 2004 after studying for 4 years in Tavistock, Cornwall. I have since gone on to train as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (commonly know as CBT), a Relate therapist and an Online therapist.  I have also qualified as an EFT practitioner.

Choosing the right Counsellor is very important and can be difficult especially when you are experiencing testing times. Consider what it’s like when you are having a difficult time and think it might help to talk to someone. Friends aren’t always the answer, so perhaps counselling would help? I entered into counselling 17 years ago believing that sometimes individuals need some guidance or self acceptance in order to feel better within themselves.

I have my own private practice which I operate from home.  I specialise and have undertaken extensive training in working with couples who are experiencing difficulties and individuals who have a gambling addiction.  I also work with many others issues such as depression, anxiety, grief and many more.

As a therapist I will not tell you what to do, but help you make your own life choices and come to the decisions that you feel are best for you! You lead the session not me. The biggest most important factor in counseling is the therapeutic relationship itself. Both counselor and client must feel that they can work with each in order for the therapeutic process to take place, this is why I offer a free initial 15 minute consultation with no obligation.

I am an intergrated counsellor using person centred, CBT and systemic in my work and offer a caring, safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment in which for you to look at your concerns or issues. Person centred counselling is very gentle with the belief that each individual has within them the capacity to change as they already hold their own answers. CBT is more directive and looks at improving your state of mind now rather than the cause of your distress in the past. Systemic is normally used for counselling couples or any realtionship issue within a family, ie mother/daughter, gay couples, friends.
